Nikolas and Nathan Meet

In Week 11, Nathan Evans came to visit Nikolas in DC. It's amazing how much kids develop in just 1.5 months. Nikolas and Nathan still liked to do the same things, but Nathan could put BOTH hands in his mouth. Nikolas was in awe of his older friend.

Party Animals Meet

Holly and Nikolas finally find time in their hectic social schedules to party together. They got alomg great despite vastly different party agendas -- she likes clubs, cosmopolitans, and raves; Nikolas wants to poop, toot, and chew on hands. Notice the turned up collar in this picture -- the first sign on holly's influence. Posted by Picasa

front porch chilling with grandma

in week 9, nikolas discovered the most wonderful thing -- his hand. He will probably eat his hand off before he turns 1. here he demonstrates his newfound coordination for grandma.

Aunt Jennifer Visits

Aunt Jennifer came for her first visit in the sweltering summer heat. Nikolas took to her immediately -- apparently confusing her for mommy Brenda. Not even 3 months and already trying to make the move on other girls. Sigh... puberty will be a challenge.
Grandma Janowiak makes another trip for little nikolas. Once again, she was our hero and savior. Posted by Picasa

Nikolas Declares Victory

Nikolas is triumphant after a morning feeding, pooping, and changing. Here he faises his hands in victory. In week 9, he's become much more aware of his hands and especially feet. He is actively trying to grab and hold onto things and to kick stuff. It's still a work in progress, but the progress is enjoyable.

How's that for a good morning smile! Posted by Picasa

Week 8 -- The Annie Lebovitz Shoot

Annie herself couldn't have done better with Nikolas than these photos. In week 8, we've noticed that he is very happy and active in the morning. Between 6-7pm is another story, but we'll take it all.

A Note from the Editor

This picture is dedicated to all the companies, clients, and friends who think that "everything should be smooth sailing after the 8th week." Please note the weight gain, baggy eyes, strained smile and lanky arms on Papa Smurf in this photo. Posted by Picasa

Go Cubbies!!

This weekend, Sasha got a chance to meet Nikolas. The results were better than we expected (which wasn't much). Sasha smelled and kissed Nikolas -- which was more than the indifference we had expected. Here the two sleep in harmony.

Here Nikolas shows his team colors before Mommy and Daddy go to the game. Nikolas doesn't realize that his mother has doomed him to life of disappointment and broken dreams. But for now, he's just happy to wear something clean and comfortable. BTW, the Cubs lost. 7-3, duh! Posted by Picasa

Die Elephant Die!

Nikolas just can't help but attack those Republicans. When Sec. of State Condolesca Rice was on Meet the Press, Nikolas unleashed a flurry of blows to the elephants head. In a barabaric rage, he chasticized Condy for the war in Iraq, eavesdropping, and dressing like a 1950s school teacher. His mother disagreed (with everything but the fashion comment).
